Empatia is a nonprofit organization created with a sole purpose of providing under privileged children opportunities for a better life through education.
Empatia's current focus is in Mexico, a third world country where 80% of the population lives in poverty. The government does not provide communities with adequate funding to build enough schools. As a result, many children are left uneducated and forced to survive by any means – often turning to crime and prostitution.
Empatia will provide positive opportunities to those who need them the most. The educational style will develop and focus on its students' individual and creative capacities, also teaching reading, writing, math, and local-based trade skills.
Empatia will create an educational center that will empower the local community and improve the quality of life with a basis for future growth.
Empatia's structural design for the educational center in Mexico is circular: to give the feeling of extension and continuity, reflecting its method of education. The building is highly ecological. It is a self-sustained structure made from as many recycled and local materials as possible. It will utilize solar power for energy and harness rain for water, helping to lessen clean water shortages and droughts.
Empatia will cultivate a symbiotic relationship between its architecture, education and community.
